The closest beach to Kōa Villas is Kalamaki beach which is well-organized with sun beds, umbrellas, taverns and a mini market and some shops.
Kalamaki is a small seaside village located 65km southwest of Heraklion, between Matala and Kokkinos Pirgos. The beach in front of the village is only a small part (2.5 km) of the long seafront of Messara Bay. The beach has blond sand and the seabed has a long smooth rock, quite slippery. In front of the village, the beach is well organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns, rooms, lifeguard, playground, water sports, etc, but if you want to stay remote you could walk to the southeast, till Kommos beach, which is preferred by nudists.

-Matala Beach, located 8.5km away, is a beautiful sandy beach, 300m long, with fine gravel and crystal clear deep water. The beach is very well organized with umbrellas, toilets, showers, lifeguards, first aid, beach volleyball courts, snack bars, water sports, excursion boats, a camping site, etc.
-Kalamaki Beach, located 2.6 km away is famous for its fine white sand and mountainous views. It's part of the Zakynthos Marine Park and is a nesting ground for the endangered Caretta Caretta turtles. Even though some areas are cordoned off and sea sports aren't allowed to protect the turtles, there's still plenty to do here. The shallow gentle waters are great for swimming and families, there are sunbeds for rent, plus restaurants and resorts.
-Kokkinos Pirgos, located 10.5 km away, is one of the most beautiful beaches in Southern Crete. You'll find sun loungers and umbrella rentals. You'll enjoy spectacular views of the Libyan Sea and Paximadia islands (Elephantaki) in the Gulf of Mesara.
